STYLE, LIFE, LOVE

Welcome to my Lifestyle blog

Hey lovely people, if you have a desire to live life to your own individual best, then stay tuned, grab a drink and sit back and enjoy this blog. I am new to blogging, but I have always had a love for writing as well as looking at lifestyle and fashion trends. As I’ve matured, I have gained an interest in creating a healthier lifestyle for myself and my family. So here I am, at the start of a new year, beginning this journey. I would like you to join me on this adventure and we can help to inspire each other!

So Who am I

Sometimes I ask myself the same question, especially after a couple of glasses of wine! Well, I am in my mid 40s, a wife, a mother of two adult children and a grandmother. I continue to have a full on life, with plenty of experience, so I am not easily phased. I am very open to embracing new ideas and changes, particularly if they are benefitting others and the planet! I live in the United Kingdom and hold down a full time job, but one of my future goals is to open my own business, hosting and looking after people, ensuring they have a good and relaxing time. Maybe a bed & Breakfast, or a git in the South of France, that would be nice, watch this space!

what is this blog about

Yes- I’m a dreamer with a passion for fashion and enjoy browsing through lifestyle blogs and vlogs. I have my selection of favourites that I subscribe to on youtube and other social media platforms, which I have found really inspiring. This blog will focus on the following topics which I gravitate to on a daily basis:

  • Natural Hair, beauty, fashion
  • Healthy lifestyle, exercise & healthy eating
  • Books, good reads
  • Love & Positivity
  • Gardening

The content of this blog will also consist of outfits of the week! This will be really exciting and will entice me to go out shopping looking into more sustainable styles and fabrics. My fashion goals for this year are to create a sustainable classic wardrobe which will stand the test of time. This includes basics, work wear and occasional wear, not to mention outerwear and accessories. I will upload pictures of my outfits and would love your feedback!

I have recently cut meat and diary out of my diet with the exception of fish, so I guess you can call me a pescatarian. I’ve eaten red meat and poultry all of my life and thought I would never be able to achieve this, but in all honesty, it was a lot easier than I thought and I do not feel as though I am missing out. I have had to think outside the box when it comes to cooking and be more creative in the kitchen. However, the benefits I am feeling far outweighs the extra effort needed to make this change. I feel healthier, my digestion is working better and I can fit into my clothes now! I have also joined a gym, which is one of the best things I did in 2019.

As we move into the spring, I will be spending more time in the garden, buying lovely plants from the wonderful garden centres I intend to visit and making my garden look a bit more loved. I look forward to uploading plenty of pictures and to your comments and feedback.

Lifestyle Changes

After much reflection on my state of inactivity since the Covid lockdown, I have made a decision to change this. With the closure of the gym and my exercise classes, which worked perfectly to keep me in shape, I have lost motivation to do anything which involves getting up of the sofa! But I am going to put a stop to this today. Yes I will open my 30 Day Fitness App and start moving. I also want to purchase some scales to measure my progress. Hopefully a healthy body will also result in a healthier mind! Wish me luck!!🙂 This is the start of my get fit goal for this year.

Recent Reads

Over the last few months I have been introduced to Jeffrey Archer books. So far I have read three books written by this author: Kane and Able, Only Time will Tell; and The Sins of The Father. I enjoyed all three but the best for me was Kane and Able. This book is very highly recommended, a real page turner and one which I struggled to put down. I’m not going to give anything away, but it’s a classic, well written story, which you will enjoy reading. Its a classic story of rags to riches and good versus evil. If you do want to explore Jeffrey Archer books, I would start with this one. Although I have not read the sequel yet, this is something I plan to do soon. Only Time Will Tell is the first book of the Clifton Chronicles followed by its sequel, The Sins of The Father, again both very worthwhile and enjoyable reads that will not disappoint.

Manicure and Hand Pampering

Today I have decided to give my hands some much needed tlc, after a few months of serious neglect. Due to lockdown and staying in the house most of the time with the exception of a few trips to the shops, I have found myself neglecting my hands, as the saying goes, out of sight out of mind. But today is the day that I have put a stop to that! Yes, I have opened my new Neal”s Yard hand cream (it smells absolutely beautiful) and got to work on my cuticles, tidying them up by pushing them down gently with my cuticle stick. I then applied a coat of my clear base varnish, before applying two coats of my Maybelline 7 Day Colour Stay gel nail varnish in a lovely wine colour. Perfect! My nails look pretty and I feel a lot better. It’s amazing how a little hand pampering can make you feel. I am impressed with how easily the Maybelline nail varnish glided on. I will definitely be trying other colours in this range.

Natural hair – same hair, two completely different looks!

The picture on the left is me after I’ve washed and shampooed and conditioned, without any product. The picture on the right is the result of applying leave in conditioner, caster oil and a little shea butter and heat protector, then blowdried and straightened on a Medium heat. I love both outcomes!❤️
