I have just finished reading the Sun Sister by Lucinda Riley which is part of the Seven Sisters series. I was a little disappointed with the main character Electra (the sixth sister) as I felt her character was stereotypical and very outdated despite being set around 2008. The descriptions used to described black peoples features were also less favourable than ones used to describe other races in this series, which grated on me. Having said that, the historical part of the book was enjoyable and dealt with issues such as the start of the civil rights movement in America and linked it in with the activist nature of Electra and her Grandmother Stella. At the end of the book, I actually became emotional when I read what became of Cecily, as I really wanted a happy ever after for her and Bill. In my opinion this book was not as good as the other books in this series. However I still feel that the author is very talented and I look forward to reading all about the Seventh Sister, who may have just been found.
